Armenia on the palm

Day 1. 
Arrival to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, one of the ancient  cities in the world. A brief sightseeing city tour and hotel check-in.

Day 2. Introduction to Armenian history and familiarization with Yerevan (Matenadaran, the State Museum of History of Armenia, Armenian Genocide Museum.
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit to Matenadaran, a scientific research institute, named after the founder of the Armenian alphabet Mesrop Mashtots which is a unique repository of ancient Armenian manuscripts in its kind.  For a more thorough acquaintance with the history of Armenia, we will visit the National History Museum of Armenia, which carries visitors into the most distant past. Coins of two thousand years, jewelry, rugs, household items of ancient Armenians - all of this and much more constitutes the exposure of the museum (nearly 400,000 exhibits). A brief pause for lunch, during which time you will enjoy an unforgettable taste of Armenian dolma. After lunch, we will visit the museum and memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide carried out by Ottoman Turkey in 1915. Back to the hotel.

Day 3. The Hripsimeh Church, the Cathedral of Echmiadzin, Zvartnots Temple. Cafesjian Center for the Arts, Cascade Complex.
Breakfast in the hotel. Today, our journey starts with a tour of the so-called "Armenian Vatican" – Echmiadzin city. The first stop is St. Hripsimeh church (618 AD), which is included in UNESCO World Heritage List. Next we will visit the Cathedral of Echmiadzin, the center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the residence of the Supreme Patriarch and the Catholicos of All Armenians. There is also a museum where stores various relics, including the Spear of Longinus and particle of Noah’s Ark inside the cathedral. Break for the lunch. The next stop is the ruins of Zvartnots temple - which means "Temple of Vigil Angels” which is translated from the ancient Armenian; the temple is the early medieval Armenian architecture. It was built by the Catholicos Nerses III the Builder in 640-650 years. The Byzantine emperor Constants II attended a ceremony of the colossal temple consecration, and then wished to build the same in Constantinople. After we will visit the Cafesjian Center for Arts, which is one of the most advanced centers for Contemporary Art in the world. In the evening we will have a walk through the most favorite place of Yerevan citizens, the Cascade complex. Back to the hotel.

Day 4. Gegard Monastery complex, the Sun God’s pagan temple of Garni. Syphony of stones. Baking Armenian bread lavash. The carpets factory.
Breakfast in the hotel. Our journey starts with monastic complex Geghard (IV century). This unique architectural construction is included in the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage. The full name – is Gegardavank, literally - "The spear monastery". The name of the monastery complex comes from the spear of Longinus that pierced the body of Jesus Christ on the Cross, and, allegedly, brought to Armenia by Apostle Apostle Judas Thaddaeus. Now the spear is exhibited in the Museum of Etchmiadzin. Our next goal is the Sun God’s pagan temple, which is in the neighboring village - Garni. Temple of Garni - is the only preserved monument in Armenia belonging to the era of paganism and Hellenism. Near the temple are preserved the remains of an ancient fortress (76) and the royal palace, as well as the bath house which was built in the III century. After we will have a pedestrian walk to the natural wonder "Symphony of Stones" in Garni gorge. Next we will have a dinner in a rural environment, and taking part in the national pita bread (lavash) baking in tonir. After the dinner break we will return to Yerevan and visit the carpets factory: ”The Megheryan Caret”. Here you can observe the production the carpets that include yarn dyeing with vegetable colorants, weaving, cutting, decoration, etc. Back to the hotel.

Day 4. Tsakhkadzor, Sevan, Haghartsin, Goshavank.
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to the popular ski and climatic resort of Tsaghkadzor (literally "valley of flowers"). Here we expect a climb up the Tsakhkadzor ropeway (1 line, the length of 1137 m.). After Here we will visit the monastery complex of Kecharis (XI-XIII cc.), which was one of the major spiritual centers of Armenia and had his own school.  Next in our tour- is visiting Sevan Lake, which is situated at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level, it has an area of 1240 square kilometers and a depth of 83 m. Besides the lake and the surrounding mountains, the most famous landmark of the coast is considered to be the Sevanavank Monastery in the north-west of the lake, which is our next stop point. Initially, it was located on the island, but over the years the water level dropped, and the land was joined with an island with the Isthmus, and the monastery found himself standing on the peninsula. After we will enjoy our lunch - the Sevan fish barbecue in the restaurant overlooking the "blue-eyed" Sevan. After the lunch we head to Tavush region, where our first stop is the monastery complex Haghartsin, built in the X-XIII centuries. The monastery was mainly under the auspices of Bagratuni dynasty. There is located their royal tomb. After we will visit Goshavank monastery complex, one of the largest cultural, educational and religious centers of medieval Armenia. Then we will have our supper in one of the most beautiful and greenest cities in Armenia, in Dilijan and there we will spend the night.

Day 6. Sanahin monastery, Mikoyan brothers’ museum, Haghpat monatery.
Breakfast in the hotel. Today we will visit Lori province, where are located the monasteries Sanahin and Haghpat, which were included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1996. First we will visit the monastery complex Sanahin, which name translates as "it is older than the other," in view of the fact that the monastery was built before the monastery Haghpat. The monastery owned vast areas of land, where in X-XI centuries lived 300-500 people, among whom were scientists and cultural figures. After we will visit the museum of Mikoyan brothers, one of whom was a politician and member of the Communist Party, and the other was an eminent aircraft designer who created the famous MiG fighter. Lunch break. After lunch, we will visit the largest monastery complex of the province- Haghpat. Haghpat Monastery is a significant monument of medieval Armenia, which is characterized by its unity and compactness of the asymmetric complex and the beautiful silhouette in the mountainous terrain. Next we will go back to Yerevan, where we will spend the night.

Day 7. Brandy Factory "Ararat", fair "Vernissage".
 Breakfast in the hotel. A tour to the famous legendary Yerevan Brandy Company “ArArAt”, which products have repeatedly been honored with medals at various international exhibitions. Knowingly as a recipe for longevity, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill recommended: "Never be late for dinner, smoke Hawaiian cigars and drink Armenian cognac."
Next we will visit the fair "Vernissage", where you can buy many beautiful souvenirs and art works of Armenian artists. There you will find paintings, jewelry, woodwork, magnets, musical instruments, national souvenirs, carpets, costumes, semi-precious stones, as well as much more. Free time.

Day 8. Khor Virap. Winery "Areni". Noravank. “TaTever”, Tatev monastery, “Devil’s” bridge
Breakfast in the hotel. Our journey begins with a visit to the Khor Virap monastery. It is known for its location at the foot of the biblical Mount Ararat, where, according to legend, appeared Noah on the ark after the Flood. The monastery is situated over the subsurface prison where, according to legend, the Armenian king Trdat III kept in captivity St. Gregory the Illuminator for about 15 years, before it was converted to Christianity in 301 AD. Our next stop is the winery, where we will see the process of wine production with degustation of different varieties of locally produced wines. After we will visit Noravank Monastery, which dates back to the XIII century. It is one of the most beautiful medieval buildings in Armenia. Next we will  go back to have our lunch break in Areni village, where wine is made from the same grape variety for thousands of years. After lunch we head to the world's longest passenger cableway, called "Wings of Tatev", which is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. On the Wings of Tatev we will “fly” to the Tatev Monastery, that was founded in 895—906. The monastery was the religious center of Syunik from the IX century. In the X century about thousand people lived in the monastery. Our next stop is  the "Devil's Bridge". There are stone pools with mineral water and magnificent caves created by nature. Even in the daytime the huge stalactites inspire fear. After we will go to the city Goris, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 9. Khndzoresk, Karahunj, Jermuk, Galla dinner.
Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast we will head to the village Khndzoresk. The name "Khndzoresk" literally translates from Armenian as "apple". According to one version, the settlement was named so because in this area grew many apple trees. The main attraction is the "cave city". Old Khndzoresk was a village, spread out over about 3 km on the slopes of the ravine. It was a one of the most populous villages of Syunik. Next in the program is "Karahunj" - ancient megalithic complex located on a plateau at an altitude of 1770 meters above sea level. After we will visit Jermuk city, which is the center of medical tourism of Armenia, because of its famous mineral water and favorable climate. Lunch break. After lunch we will return to Yerevan. In the evening we will have Galla Dinner in one of the Armenian picturesque taverns where you will enjoy traditional Armenian dishes, enjoy live music and dancing. Back to the hotel.

Day 10.
